Year 12 historians from Ysgol Eirias braved record temperatures in London on Wednesday as part of a fascinating visit to the capital. Students investigated the rich history of Westminster Abbey, focussing particularly on the legacy of Welsh-born Henry VII and the Tudor dynasty. Later they travelled to the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth for a sobering insight into the horrors of the holocaust and the Nazi occupation of mainland Europe.

In preparation for the adventure of a lifetime in three weeks, students from years 10-13 took part in a training weekend in Snowdonia. Despite the differing weather the weekend was a great success. Objectives included preparing the campsite, cooking on trangias and building a positive group rapour, which was very successful.
A TALENTED guitarist from Old Colwyn has been compared to late Blues legend BB King in a tribute article published by a respected music magazine. Former Ysgol Eirias student Max Jenks-Gilbert, 19, was playing a gig in South Carolina while Guitar and Bass magazine journalist Bob Hewitt was researching his tribute feature.
