Further information and appointments will be issued after half term.
Holocaust survivor, Chaim (Henry) Ferster, 92, visited Ysgol Eirias today to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Chaim, who changed his name to Henry when he moved to Manchester after the war, retold his incredible life story to our GCSE and A Level History students. He was 17 and living in Sosnowice, Poland when war broke out and he went on to experience many concentration camps including Auschwitz.
This first round Eryri cup game had the potential to be very difficult against a highly motivated Ysgol Tryfan team.
The game, played at Caernarfon rugby club started in near perfect conditions and Eirias made the near perfect start with Josh Moore, having not played any competitive rugby for 3 months crossing for the opening score in side 3 mins.
Eirias quickly established control at scrum and line out and were the better team at the breakdown. We recycled the ball with organised efficiency but made too many careless errors to capitalise on our dominance.
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Friends of the school,
I am proud and pleased that following our recent Estyn Inspection (October 2014) they have rated the school’s performance as good and felt that our prospects for further improvement were also good. Included in the strengths were: exam performance, teaching, Welsh development, students’ attitude to learning and students’ wellbeing. They have also identified areas for development that we are confident we can achieve, with plans already in place to deliver improvement.
You are more than welcome to read the inspection report you’ll find available for viewing and downloading on this page.
Can I thank all those parents/guardians, students and Governors that contributed to the process and I hope that they too are proud of Ysgol Eirias.
Congratulations to Ollie Major, year 13, who won the North Wales heat of the Historical Association Great Debate Competition held in Ysgol Eirias in November. Ollie now goes through to the National Final at the Royal Holloway, University of London, in March.
