Flare, this years Young Enterprise Company have had fantastic success at the recent North Wales final and Celebration event on Monday 7th April at Rhyl Pavillion Theatre. Flare have worked hard throughout the year selling tea and coffee at school events as well as to develop and promote their childrens gardening product 'Green Shoots'. The final was their opportunity to present their product and compete against other companies from across North Wales. During the day students had to 'man' their trade stand as well as answer questions from the judging panel which was made up of business people from across the region. The day concluded with a presentation on what the company has achieved through the year. After a tentative wait, the judges returned their decison. Flare won all the awards in the North West Wales category - Best Trade Stand, Best Company Report, Best Presentation and the Environmental Awareness award. Managing Director Melissa Leonard also won the Young Achiever award. In addition to this Flare won the Best Company award meaning they will represent North Wales in the All Wales final in Cardiff in June. Everyone in the Business and Communications Faculty would like to congratulate Flare on their success and wish them the best of luck in Cardiff!
Eirias big guns blow away Syr Huw owen in Caernarfon sunshine
Eirias U18 33, Syr Huw Owen 0
After a morning of rain in Colwyn Bay we were greeted by spring sunshine and a dry ball at Ysgol Syr Huw Owen. Eirias started the better and when Jake Weigh crashed over from a driving maul from a line out after only 3 mins the writing was on the wall for the home team.
Aled Webb was dominant at 2 in the line out, so dominant that the opposition didn’t contest our ball allowing us to use the same maul to gain ground regularly.
