On Thursday October 23rd a group of worthy Year 9 students went to Bounce Below in Blaenau Ffestiniog for an evening of bouncing, jumping, sliding, climbing and general tomfoolery. After donning on the fetching red overalls and helmets, we all boarded a small train down to the bowels of an old slate mine.
Everyone enjoyed the evening which included many highlights. One of which for me personally was when Daniel Smith launched himself in the direction of Mr Wilkinson where there was a knee to groin collision that saw Mr Wilkinson out of action for a few minutes! Throughout the evening many races took place where everyone had to run from one side of the cave to the other. Sounds easy? No, not when you were running on a bouncy trampoline with tens of other students vying for that coveted first place. What of Emily Filbee’s amazing pencil dive down the chute? Oh yes, that didn’t happen! Never mind Emily, maybe next time? Also, we can't forget to mention Tom Kelley's worm move from one end of the cave to the other! Epic is the only way to describe it. That said, was it as epic as Miss Edwards' egg bounce fail? I will let you decide!
It was an excellent evening full of laughs, and I dare say that we will be going there again!
Ysgol Eirias Ski team enjoyed unprecedented success at this year’s Welsh Ski Championships at Llangranog on Sunday 12th October. The girl’s team were crowned national champions for the third consecutive year. Whilst a youthful boys team, came a strong second, showing considerable promise for future years.
The growing strength in depth of the Ysgol Eirias Ski fraternity was exhibited by our six team entry at the championships. Three of these teams will now go on to the British Championships at Hill End in November. We are always looking for new members, please contact your PE teacher for further details.
Estyn Inspectors will be visiting Ysgol Eirias during the week beginning 13th October.

Midnight Sun a band consisting of Ysgol Eirias pupils Ben Willingham, Andy Hill and Luca Jenks-Gilbert.
(Old boys Max Jenks-Gilbert and Alex Charnock were also part of the band prior to their departure this summer)
On Saturday 27th September, the band headlined at an event in Caerwys which was aimed at raising money for homeless young people in North Wales as well as other related charities. The event raised over £500.
This is the second time that the boys have given up their time to support a charity event in North Wales. The band was the headline act and did 2 x 45 minute musical perfromances.
